In line with the “One UN” spirit, the United Nations Environment Programme’s New York Office is strongly engaged in UN system-wide coordination activities in the environmental field, participating in major inter-agency meetings, particularly those of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) and two of its sub-committees, the High-Level Committee on Programmes (HLCP) and the UN Development Group (UNDG). The Office also engages in the work of the UN Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs (EC-ESA), and represents UN Environment in a range of thematic inter-agency bodies.
The UN Environment New York Office also provides support to the work of the UN Environment Management Group (EMG). The Director of the UN Environment New York Office is the head of the EMG Secretariat. The Office promotes and supports substantive collaborative initiatives with partners in the UN system, among others, with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Women.
